C5 Sub box plans
Does anyone have a link for that? I would like to build my own box to fit in the space at the back middle of the trunk.
Any help is appreciated!

Plans really not needed this way either, just do it, how I learned

Does your design increase the air space inside the box?
Not sure when we will get to this but not to far off, month or two probably.
IF, there is a really good low weight unit available let me know, I will not do one unless there is a need

Thanks

Looking for something to install either 2 10" JL subs or one 12".

Since there is so much more room and easy to fit I might not have my own enclosure if you are willing to make them for guys I send you, as long as it fits the IDQ10v3 at least

Not sure if we even need to use fiberglass on the C5 box which saves a ton of time and cost. A well done BB unit weight is low enough, etc...might not save any or enough to bother so it helps everyone save money and weight at the same time!
Give me a call if you wish or an email, PM, etc....

There are tens of thousands of our great cars and many owners want upgraded audio systems. I firmly believe these cars deserve to have the lowest weight, high quality systems they can, If I can help some, others as well, more than enough to go around so we can all have some fun doing this fun business
Note: If any resonance issues you can use a drilled out(for lower weight) brace inside the box as needed. My TT car has a 2.2 cubic foot sealed enclosure, bottom is fiberglass molded to the floor that I hand hammered to a bowl shape to get the depth(steel floor of course) which stiffened it significantly thus resulting in thinner glass needed. The rest is BB, 3 different gauges, three layers right where the sub mounts so I can flush it in but beside it, over internal braces, I was able to go down to one layer due to the small unsupported surface areas. The sides, etc are all short so thin material was used there as well.
Then end result is an incredibly stiff enclosure that only weighs 20 lbs empty! This car hit 138.4 db on music for a 2 minute average with a single Arc 15 and 1kw amp beating all but one bass monster systems because they all blew up, blew fuses, speakers, caught fire, etc as only built to play a single note. My system did not clip, distort, etc just played though I have to admit it was a Bass Mechanic track

And yes, it is my TT car, it is also an audio comp car and when I get around to finishing the big turbo build it will see the track again but this time run with the system playing, I just like to do things others do not do. It weights 200 lbs less than stock with nearly a full interior, comp audio system, cage, big brakes, wheels, tires, etc........and I could put plates on it if I wanted to

Anyway, a bit off subject but wanted to let you know my dedication to low weight, high performance audio

Have a great day!

Also, light weight mdf is available, but I think it flexes a tad more compared to regular mdf. Any sub should have internal bracing anyway, so i suspect light weight mdf is fine. Do not use nails only, especially if you are going to run sealed and high power. Use rabbets on the panels and screws (if using mdf, then use mdf-specific screws). Baltic birch is good stuff, but make sure it is the 13 ply, not the 7 ply.
If you don't want that setup and are going with two subs, then I recommend one sub in each corner. That is called corner loading and it is sonically advantageous and more efficient.

I have not used MDF for over 10 years now, the only thing it is good for is large trim panels in 1/4" as not as prone to warp as plywood.
BUT, if you need that then use Alumalite instead, super stiff, will not warp, incredibly low in weight
