I feel something isn't right. I have very little mid/bass out of the ID 6.5 in the doors. The amps gain is at 75%... I have all all the crossover in the Hu set to pass thru. I have 2 decent amps . Diamond Audio D5's 600.4 and 300.2 The 600.4 is for the main speakers and the 300 for the sub. The 600.4 should be able to push the ID's really well.
With the volume at 25 out of 35 I get less than 1 volt out of the rca's
The Hu is a 5v unit how come I don't see 2 volts atleast at 70+% power ?
I'm seeing .1 to .2x with a full range cd playing.
Can my PAC os2bose be part of the problem ? I think the HU might have a issue. ?

You are right about the clipping, but I'm assuming that if the voltage output from the HU is too low than that would explain why I have to have the gains so far up on the amp and the poor performace of the speakers at low volume.
I have a DNX 9140 and I went to the audio shop I deal with to have the gains set with an O-scope and a load bank.
The HU clipped at vol. setting 34/35. At 33/35 it was reading just under 5 volts. This was with a 0 db test tone. Don't remember the freq of the test tone.
We kept the HU at 33/35 to adjust the gains on the amps using minus 10 db test tones for eveything except the tweeter channels which were set with minus 5 db test tones.
I think that your DNX 9960 should clip at about that same setting.

Correct ?
thx
Poor performance at low volumeS? What do you mean?
With 5 volt preouts on the HU the amp gains sould be minimal. Mine are 20-25%.
Are you comparing parked, engine off, to driving on the freeway at 70 mph? If that's the case, there will be a huge difference in bass response, especially at low volume. I have a preset for each.
With my last system the sound was very clean and the bass and mids were very clean and sharp. You could feel the music. I didn't have the door insulated like mine now either. There was a true difference when I installed the D5 amp in my C5... it really made the speakers sound better than running them off my Alpine HU. My C5 sounded pretty good without the amp too. My C6 system has the pre-amp feel/sound and doesn't have any real tonal quality to it. It's like it isn't being amplified. Only at high volume do you hear/feel drum peddles etc. We even set the tweeter down -3db to help bring out what little bass I'm getting out of the 6.5's . I have read that ID speakers like higher rms amps and that is what i have. My C5 had a D5 300.4 this system has a 600.4 that should be enough for any 6.5/ 5.25" combo. It seems to be lacking warmth. Maybe some of this can be adjusted into the new system. I'm not an expert by any means.
Maybe C6's with the larger cargo area than my partitioned C5 Z06 won't sound as good ?
I was listening to Godsmack last night and the tone of singers voice is clearly different than what it should be.... the system doesn't feel powerfull as i believe it should. It can get loud and shake the mirrors etc, but at low volumes it has nil for bass.
My wife is a professional musician , she doesn't think its right either.
Anyone here on the board live in the Phx,Az area ? I'll gladly let you hear this and let you tell me if my ears are wrong.
Can someone tell me how to measure the voltage coming from the rcas...I want to double check what I was seeing yesterday at the installers place.
