Default C6 speaker mounting depth

Anyone know the max mounting depth on a c6. I know you can get over 3". Obviouslly the baffle will give me more depth, I need to know without a baffle figured in how deep I can go without hitting the window

Thanks much

Crutchfield posts the following mounting depth for my 2006:

Front speakers
Dash: 3-1/2"
Front Door: 3-1/2"

Far rear speakers
Mid Panel: 5-1/4"

Hope this helps,

Eugene

Actually, that may be a factory replacement size without modification. Sorry for the confusion.

The big stock opening is 9 5/8".
I have Dyn MW 162 with mounting depth of 2 5/8" and they just clear the sled on the rail with a 1/4" baffle. So that would be 2 3/8".
I think that I allowed 1/4' clearance, which was my comfort level.
If the sled won't interfere you might be able to get another 3/4" to the glass.
I currently have a 1/2" baffle plus a 1/2 mounting ring for a total of 1" inboard, and no problems with excursion hitting the grill. However I wouldn't go much more than that.
If I had my door panels off (which is often) I would gladly provide more exact measurements.
Hope that helps .

what happened to my post from last night???

Anyway, I recently removed 3" depth as mounted on the back of the baffles, 9" Morels, did not hit anything, not sure if much room was left or not though.

Quite a bit of room until you hit the grill so more depth should be ok, on a thick baffle, mounted on the front of course. I do prefer to keep my speakers as wide apart as possible though for a wider sound stage.

pentavolvo, what did you end up with? Speaker depth? Baffle thickness? I'm looking to do some switching out myself in the next couple of months.

If one wanted to use a 3.5 in where the tweeter currently sits would the depth there also be 3.5 in?

Hmmm not sure quite how deep it is. But I do know 1 11/16 fits fine with room to spare

Just measured it. 2007 C6
From face of OEM fiberglass baffle;

2-7/8" to sled

3-1/8" to rail.

3-3/4" to glass.

Caution that is ZERO clearance !
