IPOD question - problem playing ALBUM sequence

I've been pretty happy with the new GM PAL V2.1 IPOD adapter of which I'm using a 120G Ipod classic with.
What's got me confused is this. I can select playlist, album, artist, etc just fine.
When I navigate/listen by album, all works fine till we hit "greatest hits", where there are multiple albums that are "greatest hits". Then the songs are not played in sequence within "greatest hits" album but in some sort order that I haven't yet figured out.
How is the sort order for album controlled on an Ipod? I know that Itunes has album/artist category that presumably combines both into the sort key for this reason.
Soitenly I'm not the only technically challenged idiot that doesn't know how to make the device play albums properly by playing the entire album in sequence when there are like album names.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

BTW, this problem is apparent on more expensive decks/HU as well and I think the culprit is really Apple. Don't get me wrong, I love my Apple products. It's just that things must always work "their way".

I'm sure it's not the interface; the Ipod works the exact same on my DD ricer's Dice Ipod adapter as it does on my GM PAL.
Unfortunately Apple supplies such great documentation with the Ipod. None other than a few multilingual pictograms.

I'm sure buried somewhere in a help menu is a way to load the Ipod with the right sort sequence for Albums. So far googling has only got me a patch where folks renamed the the albums from 'Greatest Hits' to '<artist name> Greatest Hits'.

I was hoping there was a real fix for this. Hard to believe that Apple's programmers are too stupid to construct a proper sort key and add a simple sort when the album names are duplicated as with "Greatest Hits".
I guess I was wrong. Googling it brings up pages and pages of people griping about the same thing.
Nevertheless, I appended the initials of the artist after the "Greatest Hits" name which half-azz fixes the sort issue.
Thanks for letting me vent...
