Eclipse, X-tant Amps...any thoughts?

Eclipse, X-tant Amps...any thoughts?

I've got my speaker selection nailed down...I'm going with Boston Acoustic Pro Series 5.5/6.5 Now all I need to do is select some quality Amps. I had a chance to listen to Eclipse and X-tant Amps, although I was thoroughly impressed with both, I thought the X-tant was a bit high priced. Any thoughts or suggestions/recommendations on either of these amps? Also, is Planet Audio, Phoenix Gold, JL Audio or Rockford Fosgate Amps worth a serious look? :D

not sure what your looking to spend...

I've run alpine and fosgate...liked em both...
I picked up a new Fosgate 600a4 (tested out at 667 watts) for $225 off an ebay (dutch) auction....they list around 4-500 normally. I am bridging tha amp to run 300 W X 2 @ 4 Ohms Bridged RMS into my 10" eclipse DVC subs...I enclosed the subs in a divided Qlogic box cause I am running the subs at 4 ohms stereo.

I drive my Boston Pro Components with an Xtant X604 under 2 ohm load-drives six component sets and four 10" subs (in my dually) Pics in my sig

Very happy with the sound of the Boston/Xtant combo. Good thing the amp has a fan built in! :cool:

Eclipse makes very good equiptment. I have their 12" aluminum sub and love it plays nice and tight, but booms when you want it too. I've heard nothing but good reviews about Eclipse subs, even from people I know in the stereo business. I've also heard good things from the same people about Phoenix Gold, so I'd say they're worth a look too. Good Luck.

When Xtant first came out, I bought a 3300C. I beat the everloving hell out of that amp and it never failed, even running 2 ohm mono. The only gripe I ever had with it was the bottom corners of the shroud looked like a kid from High school shop class did the bends.

All look like good options, with the exception of Planet Audio.
Remember, you get what you pay for.
Go to different shops and listen.
Start with top of the line and go down.
When you can hear a SQ difference from the previous, go back to the previous.
If its in your budget, buy it. Don't get caught up in the who's who of Car Audio. It will drive you nuts. Look at all the different opinions on here!!!
