Default quality 6.5 component

I have a 450 / 4 JL amp that I am using to run my front and rear stage

I was wondering if anyone new of some good quality 6.5 component speakers that can handle 300 w rms (150/2) not looking to spend a lot of money but willing to pay for quality

Thanks

Are you bridging 150 into 300w per side, or 150rms per side?

150 per side you can pretty much run anything. I'd look at the Pioneer Premiere and Focal Polyglass/Access in the budget range.

I have the Focal polyglass and they sound great. One thing I know with the Focals is there was a lot of bogus / counterfeit models being sold on E-bay so if you buy some make sure they are original.

You should listen to MBQuartz and CDT before you buy. I mean, yeah, you should listen to ANY speaker before you buy but newer MBQuartz are insanely bright and CDTs (At least, the ones I've heard and owned) have lots and lots of distortion and are easily surpassed by much cheaper speakers.

James,

I bought a set of Focal Polyglass/ Access and I'm powering them through my JL Audio HD/500 amp, along with a JL 12W6 sub. I also bought a JVC Arsenal head unit, which gives 5v preouts.

I am pleased with the sound and quality and power handling of the Focals. I got them on sale on Woofersetc.com in the $300 - $400 range. All I have to do now is find the cajones to mount the tweeters in the a-pillars. Until then, I've got 'em tucked in the corners of the dash and a-pillars facing me. In the current configuration, I'm not disappointed in the least.

Good luck!
Mike

I am running a set of Hertz Hi-Energy 6.5" HSK 165 components with 75 watts per channel. Very good speakers for the money.

I have a 450/4v2 powering JL C5-650's up front and JL XR-525's in back. I also have a 300/2v2 on a W3 Stealthbox. Everybody who hears it loves it, me included.

Thanks. The HU is a Kenwood 8019. The top can still be locked into the mounts in back with the Stealthbox. As I said it sounds great. The JL Sub gets loud enough for me and its nice and tight bass. The C5-650 components are real good. The silk tweeter is smooooth and has good midrange. Im happy with how it turned out.

Im running the CDT's and yeah, they're a bit bright. I ended up switching out the tweeters to some Kicker RS series soft domes and it make the comps sound so much better.

But I have a habit of mix matching my comps.
