1 JL 10w3 sub
1st Hifonics Zues (5ch 740w) amp... one month blew
2nd Hifonics same... worked fine

3rd Infinity Kappa 5 (5ch 600w)... one month blew
4th Infinty Kappa 5 ... two days blew
(all professionally installed)
On order Alpine PDX5
Can someone tell me whats going on
before I have the Alpine installed! Now I dont know whats hot for an amp but to me they were pretty hot despite fanned and properly mounted. Installer says they werent super hot
And on none of them did the amps safety feature kick on. Also why would all blow but one?

If they were professionally installed 1- they wouldnt be blowing 2- they would have an answer for you why if they did.
I had a nightmare with my install when I had the first shop do it. They talked the talk but F'd it up a couple of times and kept me on the hook. The had a good reputation around town and had me fooled. I finally went elsewhere and they fixed me up in no time. You might want to try someplace else. Good luck.
If you trust the place that has installed it, you need to force them to come up with an explanation on why 2 amps have blown. If they hesitate at all or you do not buy the explanation, you need to give them the option of A) full refund, B) complete rewire, or C) paying for someone who is competent to figure out the problem and correct it.
Bad amps happen occasionally, but coincidence only goes so far. Someone f'd up somewhere IMO.
G'luck

I bought them all from the same reputable online distributor who claim the items were new, not refurbished. They warrantied each one and sent a replacement no problem.
Remember the second amp worked fine (same wiring) unless I didnt have it long enough before it blew.
I find it odd also that three amps would be bad (unless theyre disguised refurbs).
Common denominator is the wiring but installer says if wired wrong it wouldnt work from the start, its an easy install (isnt it?). 5 Ch amp 4 speakers and a sub, how hard is that? The shop has been there 20 yrs.
Either way, new amp = new installer. We'll see this wknd. Im gonna have an insulatiuon kit put in also so theyll pull and rewire and see what they say. If its the wiring my bill and I will be going to the old installer.
