Default OEM Touch Screen Nav + Smartphone Interface = WIN

So I came across this video and got me thinking. Why would I want to enter information into my Android phone and then send it to OnStar? My phone has a great Google Maps powered navigation that is included in my monthly service.

What I would like to see is a OEM Nav Personal Audio Link (PAL) that when connected to your smart phone (IPhone or Android) displays your Mobile OS on your OEM Touchscreen. Now you have full operation of your phone, taking advantage of GPS, 3G connectivity, music, etc - all from your OEM nav.

What do you suppose are the challenges of doing this? The newer smart phones are equipped with HDMI out, which should make it easier to work a product like this.

Disadvantages vs advantages? Thoughts?

Thanks!

It would be cool but it aint gonna happen with the oem nav in the present corvette. Just look at the 30+ page thread about just trying to get an updated pal to work with the system.

Just wished the OEM's would take advantage of this or even a company like Delphi would grab this, develop it and sell back to the OEM buyers.
