Sub in Vert
Been reading a bit and have talked to a couple of audio install shops. I'm thinking the best solution for me to get a bigger sound without a full replacement is:
- Use a PAC line output converter to:
- Add 4 channel amp (maybe Alpine PDX-4.150)
- Add a Cleansweep type unit to flatten Bose signal.
- Completely remove rear speakers along with the firewall.
- Install either 8" or 10" sub box in trunk.
- Replace door subs with good quality mid range.
- Replace door highs with better quality high range.
Appreciate any helpful comments. Thanks.
do a pdx4.150 or IMO even better kenwood xr4-s
2 way component set in doors, with woofer where oem sub was, and tweeter where oem twiddler was
ditch rear speakers, run sub of choice in rear
I also posted in C6 General since I didn't get any timely replies here in Audio.
I ended up keeping the Bose stuff except for the rears, which I removed along with the firewall to allow sound travel from the trunk where I installed a JL CS113TG-TWS which is a 13 3/4" sub speaker mounted in a slim fiberglass fully enclosed box in the trunk, powered by a JL HD 750 watt 1 channel amp.
I'm hoping that since I now have a dedicated powered bass, the rest of the system will sound better because I will no longer need to EQ the low end.
However I may end up upgrading the rest of the system, don't know yet. Remember this is a convertible, so much of the sound fidelity (or lack of) is not noticed, as I drive top down 95% of the time in sunny So. California.
