Default Advice on a basic stealthy combo for my C6

Hi folks,

I've read the C6 FAQ and a few threads, but given the individual expertise in this particular forum I thought I'd just pose the question directly.

Here's what I have: 2008 C6, Bose, non-navi.

Here's what I'd like to do:
  • Add a small rear cubbie enclosure and sub like the Boxology unit (love that unit's removability) or the JBL stealth.
  • Add an amp in a non-visible location (behind passenger seat, in PS cubbie, other creative location).
  • Replace door speakers with high quality units.
  • I'm open to keeping the factory head unit unless it would be foolish to do so.
  • If replacing the head unit, I don't need nav or DVD and would like to keep the steering wheel audio controls and have an aux jack or other means of using my iphone for music.

I love music, but am a newbie when it comes to car audio upgrades so any specific advice on components you can offer would be most helpful.

Thanks!

Any thoughts or recommendations on the above?
  • The Alpine PDX-5 seems to come up a lot as a popular behind-the-seat amp. Comments?

I think you mean JL Stealthbox. I have one and like it alot. Quality bass and JL R&D in a lightweight sealed enclosure that allows for top storage. Get a good set of 6.5" components in the doors and maybe a set of coax for the rear. I have JL C5-650's up front, JL XR-525 rears with the Sealthbox with a 450/4v2 and 300/2v2 amps. They're not small amps and not mounted hidden but there are other amps that can be. Someone can offer suggestions as to which ones.

Here's my build thread. We had similar goals and similar cars. I am very happy with the setup. I since have added a JBL MS-8 but am still playing with it.

I got my custom enclosures from Dave at Madvette Motorsports. His quality is amazing and he build me a custom box for a 10W3 and an amp rack with a storage bin for behind my seat. I have JL C5 650's up from, C2 525's in the back, a HD900/5 amp and a 10W3 in the trunk. I can still store my top back there and have no issues. PM me if you want pics of his work. BTW the HD900/5 is AMAZING, so much power in an amp the size of package of paper......
