Dashboard Speaker
I need more upper frequency sound in my vert. I had an installer disconnect the factory speaker to get better side to side separation, but the Bose system just sounds unclear in the upper range. Also it seems to me that I could hear better with the roof down if there was a good speaker reflecting off the windshield at ear level.
Could I make ithe system clearer, or at least give it more high tones, by changing that speaker?
What size speaker is it?
Can anyone recommend a better replacement speaker?
Thank you.
First thing I did to my C6 was unhook the center speaker. That thing is like an appendix, completely useless and screws everything up when it it is workingLike Pentavolvo said upgrade your twiddlers and you will be much happier with the sound. You are expecting way too much from the Corvette Bose system staying with the stick speaker setup. Do a search or look at the FAQ's many are going to Focal, or Polks.
I bypass the Bose completely and my system now sounds so much better, I get people running an screaming out of their houses because they think the band is going by live.

Almost two years ago I took my car to a shop and they recommended Focal VR 165s. They pulled out the Bose system and put the Focals and an amplifier in.
At first I was a little disappointed at the sound of the new system, but as time went by I learned to utterly despise it. There was just no low end. It was all midrange and higher and sounded like a kazoo.
Finally I couldn't stomach it anymore, so I took it back and they did some resetting of the switches, and miracle of miracles it was even worse.
So I coughed up another $214 and they put everything back to stock, $1400 altogether, and I'm back where I started. Now I have some bass, but the upper end sounds like it's playing through a sofa cushion.
I know that with the roof down and where the speakers are located I just don't have any acoustics, so I've come to the conclusion that I'll never be satisfied when I'm topless, but with the roof up there's a heck of an improvement in the acoustics. That's when I really notice the muddiness of the Bose system.
I like the looks of the Polk speakers that were mentioned and the price is good, and from what little I know about specs they seemed like good specs, but has anyone actually done the change to these speakers so they could be compared, and was it worth the effort and money? Will they drop right in?
Or will I be forever doomed to listening to my iPod through headphones...
