Default Need some help wiring a LED to a switch

I have a dead pedal switch in my C6 that I use to control the dual mode exhaust, its wired as shown in the picture here, the red and white wires going to a push button switch- very simple straight forward. (pic courtesy of Pipedreams)

I bought an LED with a built in resistor which is made for 12v applications and has two leads positive and negative and I would like to wire that into this switch so that it would light up with the switch on and turn of with it off or vice versa.

Is this as simple as tapping into one of the lines that are going to my switch and wiring it inline ? Or do I need to wire one end to the one side of the switch wire and the other to the other end ?

Thanks!

Kevin

Well, I tried it, and it didn't work. I grounded the negative end of the LED to the screw in the fuse box, then I put the positive end of the LED ( with the resistor) on to the Red wire shown in the picture above, which I confirmed has 12 with the car on. The LED will not light up switch on or off, I see it blip when I am shutting the car off but that is it. Any ideas ?

did you check to see if the screw in the fuse box is grounded in our plastic car?

Yup, its the same screw used by the Wireless M2W switch.

The resistor side should be going to + right ?

Usually a pre-wired LED will have red and black wires. Black is ground. red is 12v+.
