I've read many threads in the audio section and couldn't determine the answers I was looking for...
I have a '99 C5 Hardtop. The previous owner installed a Pioneer AVH-P6000DVD using the rest of the Bose amplified speaker system with 3-1/2" + 8" amped Bose in front and 5-1/4" Bose in the rear.
My questions are:
1) Can I install Polk DB351 (3-1/2") in the front doors (using the Bose amp mounting area) and the DB521 (5-1/4") in the back without too much of a hookup hassle?
2) Could the Polk speakers be hooked up directly to the head unit utilizing it's rms 22w into 4 channel amp?
Got a great head unit installed I'm just looking for a low cost speaker replacement that will sound better than the paper cones I have now from Bose.
.
Ultimately I would just like to get a little better sound out the speakers.
Do you think it would be okay with the better quality 3-1/2" in the door and the better quality 5-1/4" in the rear driven by the head unit's 22 rms 4-channel amp. I really don't want to drop more than 150 (for new speakers) into it if i don't have to.
