Default Self-Amplified Subs any good?

Has anyone any opinions on what they have or have listened to? How do these compare to "real" subs and enclosures?
1. Bazooka 8" 250 watt
2. Infinity Basslink
3. Sound Ordinance self-amp'd
4. JL stealthbox

Thanks

I liked the basslink when I heard it.

I'm tempted to buy one of the corvette boxes and partitions and use it to attach a self-amp'd sub to. I have a 2008 Z06. Not really trying to save money. I want great sound but also a descent look.

I had an Infinity Basslink installed with a Kenwood Deck and the stock Bose speakers. I think the "system" sounded 10 times better than stock w/o a sub woofer. I did this because I didn't want to tackle the install of all new speakers and amps when I installed the Kenwood Double Din NAV/Ipod headunit in my C5Z06.

The Basslink is not going to win any competitions or rattle your windows, but it adds some nice clean bass at reasonable volumes to add the stock bose speakers. My headunit has built-in crossovers, so I am able to tweak SQ a bit.

I am now upgrading all of the speakers with Image Dynamics XS 6.5 components speakers with the tweeters mounted on the a-pillars, ARC Mini Amps & a 10" JL Stealthbox Sub and a whole lot of RAAMAT sound deadening BTW, the JL Stealthbox isn't powered.

That's right the stealthbox isn't powered. I guess I knew that but forgot when I listed it. I meant to compare pre-manufactured boxes as compared to the ones that are made in-shop. I think I keep leaning towards the stealthbox because it still allows me plenty of room in the hatch and still looks fairly stock.(so I'm told) I don't mind so much installing an amp because I would most likely replace the door speakers. The price of the stealthbox is what is holding me back and have not heard what it sounds like. It would seem for the cost of the stealthbox that I could have much, much, more.

My Stealthbox powered with a 300/2v2. It sounds great. JL R&D and quality. For me, worth the price.

If I'm going to try to have a descent system and change the door speakers as well it would make the most sense to have the JL Stealthbox. I then could add a 4 channel amp and use it for the doors. What holds me back is not so much the price but the feeling that I could have so much more for the same money or even less.
For the money I think I should look more at boxes offered by sponsors. I first thought that I would prefer the subs to be behind the seats but after looking more at that, probably better in the back. If the subs were directly behind the seat, they would be in clear view through the hatch, which is not something I want.

In post #5 you specificaly say the price of the JL unit is holding you back.

Give the Stealthbox a listen somewhere. Much better quality that the Basslink or Bazooka, the JL is custom made for the C6 by a respected audio Company who have much money invested in making a quality product for the car. As opposed to some other shops who claim great products and who fabricate garbage in a Joes garage somewhere. Do a little reading here, there are recent disasters going with these no name "experts".

I was trying to clarify that I don't mind spending the money its just the price of the JL Stealthbox seems very expensive compared to other units that appear comparable. But that is site unheard.
For the price of the Stealthbox I feel as though I could have a box, 2subs and amp. I'll try to listen to one but in my area its not likely.
