I just wired up my kenwood 9960 and i used the gm wire harness to hook up the pos neg illumination and 12v wires. the hu has a little triangle kenwood light on the bottom left corner that blinks but other than that it will not turn on or do anything!!! am i missing something?
When the bose head unit is removed from the wire harness the accessories power lead is disconnected by the pcm. The acc wire is what 'tells' your headunit to turn on so you'll have to tap into some other source for this. The easiest place to tap this lead from is fuse number 22 under the passenger floor board.
From the C5 Audio FAQ.
Did you just swap the Bose headunit it out to the 9960? If so I'm guessing this is what is wrong.

dammit so i can use the ground on the gm harness as well as the illumination though correct Lance?
LOL. I just ordered the NON nav version (DDX896) of that from Dennis. You'll have to let me know how you like it. I haven't really done anything about the pillars yet. It's kind of up in the air at the moment. I definitely have to get up with Audio One and see what they say.

Lance i was going to go with a lower end model of kenwood but all the features i get with the 9960 i had to have it hopefully will have it all done by next weekend as i still need to build a amp rack for my 2 amps and sound processor
Nice I thought about picking up an Audison Bitone to go with my amp but I really think I am going to be satisfied with just going active. I never really expected to be doing the system this high end but somehow it has manifested itself into this.

i hear ya Lance !! I have never run active and know nothing about it but I am going to be running active with the jbl I know the sound quality i am looking for which is a great sounding system BUT..... I am no tuner and i rather enjoy the system instead of spending time trying to tune and tweak it
So did you get the 9960 up and running after that change? I'm nervous about doing my headunit install. The rest doesn't bother me.
yeah Lance thanx for the advice brutha works like a champ i think seeing its on but i still have to hook up the amps and processor which hopefully will get done within the next week
LOL. I was hoping to run wires today, but I realized the amp kit I have was for the smaller amp that I started with and I need to replace it with a 1/0 amp kit for the Audison amp. So that didn't happen. Instead I started playing with fiberglass. Guess we'll see where that venture ends up until the amp kit and deadening supplies get here.

damn what amp are you runing that needs 0 gauge. i would consider doing big3 also if you havent done it yet
I'll be doing the Big 3 sometime this week. Though I don't know that the amp needs it,Audison recommends a 1 or 0 for the LRx 5.1k. I'll go by their recommendation considering stuff like that would probably come up if there was ever a warranty issue or anything.
