Default Stange Sat problem

I have had the same exact problem in the two C6 I have owned at different times. , let me start by saying I changed both from XM to Sirius with the SIR GM1 units. And I only listen to Sirius, never FM.
Sometime when I start the car it will no longer be on Sat as it was when I shut it off, upon restart it will have switched over to FM, it may not do it for a day or two or may do it each time I start it back up. Both cars had XM for a very short time before I went to Sirius so I do not recall if it did it with XM. Has anyone heard of this happening before?

I have switched my 2010 from XM to Sirius as well, and have had that same thing happen occasionally.

I can't say why for certain, but it seems that happens when I first turn the car on and for some reason the radio doesn't even recognize that there is Sirius hooked up to it, so it switches to FM. I have even gone through the sources and Sirius is not there but it always shows back up after a few seconds.

It seems to happen more in hot weather.

I too switched to a SIRIUS tuner but have never had the problems you describe.

Usually if you lose the XM1 or XM2 buttons on the head unit, it's because the head unit lost communication with the tuner and is most likely due to a poor/intermittent connection.

At the very least check your connections at the tuner and harness adapter.

Or maybe it's an indication that your battery is starting to fade. Just speculating at this point.

Good Luck.

Once in a while it will not find the SIR Gm unit and the only way I can get the Sirius to work at all is to shut the car off and restart it. I guess the switching to FM is a bug in the Sirius converter.
