Default why use sound deadening?

I've never used sound deadening materials before, so I'm just wondering what the main reasons are for using it? Does it prevent vibrations/rattling from subs, or it mainly to reduce outside noise from entering the cabin?

Sound deadening can seem to serve more than one purpose, it does.

Reducing road noise improves the audio reproduction on even pretty low end systems.

Reduced road noise reduces driver fatigue thus making the drive more enjoyable.

Stiffening the areas around speakers, outside of doors, speaker mounting locations, etc reduces the load the speaker has so it can perform better.

Stiffening the air space where they are located helps do the same thing.

The methods for both purposes are nearly exact, which is cool, we get almost all the benefits for doing the job for any one thing

By the way, my BXT II and Ensolite are as good as the very best and the best value there is, period. You can ignore those google adds here, they just follow me around, not even vendors like I am

It can do a little of both. Keeps sound out and keeps sound in.

One of my buddies has a pretty loud pickup that is sealed up extremely well. He can crank around town and it's barely noticeable. Open the door and you find out how loud it actually is inside.

Helps stop some of the eyerolls u get as loud stereo guy, keeps sound in where it's supposed to be, and helps stop the advertising of hey I got subs come steal them!

I just installed Rick's BXT II and Ensolite a couple days ago and it reduced road noise quite a bit. Good products and service

Yeah I used RAAMmat too (BXT I and II) on my recent sound system installation. I'm very pleased with it; it's definitely worth the money.

Thanks guys Helping my fellow enthusiasts has always been very important to me, nice comments like these make it that much nicer, much appreciated

------------------

Though stock these cars are very noisy making it hard to make them super quiet, which we really do not need to as part of driving them is hearing them but taking the edge off sure makes them more fun, far more!
