Has anybody installed a switch to turn off all the interior lights that stay on when the door are open? I have this feature on another vehicle and it comes in handy when cleaning the interior or doing other work when there is plenty of sunlight to see by. Guess I could always just pull the fuse(s), but a switch would be a nicer solution.
The lights turn off on their own after about 10 minutes. If you open or close a door they'll come back on until they go off again in another 10 minutes.
Yes, I know abouit the timer, but every time the door is shut it resets. I usually work on the car in the driveway, and every time I have to go into the house (to get another tool, another beer, etc) I shut the door. Anybody know where the best place would be to cut in a switch that would kill all the interior lights?
From the schematics, I see that the interior lights are "monitored load". What exactly does this mean? If I shut them off when they are supposed to be on (by virtue of a timer, let's say) will that just cause a code to be thrown?
That's what GM calls the "turn off after 10 minutes" feature. It watches that circuit for current and kills it after so much time if the car isn't running to prevent the battery from going dead.
