Default Best Radar Detector

Hello all, fairly new to this forum but I look forward have great and exciting discussions. I thought I would share my experience with the new K40 radar detector RL360.

I have been a long time radar user in 07 when Escort came out with there 9500ci I bought that to replace my K40 Calibre radar detector no reason other then to get something new. I also have driven with the V1 great for what it is but lets be honest it is a portable ( dashmount radar) with limitations and could never be compaired to a remote installed radar like the K40 or the 9500ci. For a vehicle like yours, I would highly recommend the K40 radar detector they offer the most protection then anythine else out there, the new K40 RL360. I have since replaced my 9500ci with this system went it came out a couple months ago and let me tell you..... The K40 RL360 is the best radar I have driven with to date. before making your decision at least check it out I am extremely happy with it. I decided to go with ther pods instead of the small leds just because I did not want to drills holes anywhere. check this video out I found on there Youtube channel.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4NTUhzXmSE

regardless of what you decide, at least then you will have some protection right? LOL

my concern on the k40 vs the escort is the lack of the defender database for cameras and stuff..

also the escort allows you to mark locations as false alarm or it will automatically do it if it finds the same location 3 times with a x signal...

if k40 would integrate that it would be great...they have the gps in it so it is achievable..

THe K40 radar detector RL360 does give you the ability to mark locations, the cool thing about the K40 vs. Escort is with the K40 you can also unmark them with having the inconveinance of constantly updating a database. Plus from what I read a lot of the city and states are getting away from the red light and photo cameras all together ie; Arizona where the whole mess started. The lock out feature on the Escort is cool but scares me from what I have experienced and heard from others is it will lock out that specifc band for a 3000ft radius, what if there is a cop sitting right next door that KNOWN false area using the same freq of that specific radar band? LOL then you are screwed !

The K40 RL360 has a feature called quite ride, where most of your falses come from city driving, banks, grocery store etc. I set my quite ride to 35MPH and as long as I go under that speed the K40 will eliminate the audio alerts so I dont hear those falses you do. The minute I go over that set speed the audio alerts are then engaged to alert me of threats.

You should check it out, it is a pretty impressive radar detector.

I have been using K40 radar detectors for more than 10 years and also think they are one of the best detectors on the market and certainly the best when it comes to consealed radar detectors.

I have the K40 Calibre in my 09 Z06 which I love. The quiet ride is a pretty cool feature as it does get annoying sitting in a parking lot hearing the alarm and voice.

I will have to check out the RL360 as it has some pretty nice features and my justify an upgrade down the line.

Before you shell out $2K for a radar detector - get smart. Here's overview of the K40 and others.
http://radartest.com/article_2.asp?articleid=100584
http://www.consumersearch.com/radar-...FUyD5QodMT_lnQ

It's hard to find ANYONE recommending a K40 product. Not an opinion - a fact.

Beware a lot of "friendly" advisors out there are sponsors of what they are recommending. If you want to swim in "radar detector rabidity" check out the following forum:
http://www.radardetector.net/forums/index.php.

These guys go out LOOKING for radar traps - and they are more than happy to tell you all about it.

Theres a guy on YOUTUBE that drives around with 4 different detectors going through speed traps in real time. You get to watch them come one one by one - gives you a real feel for what the performance is. He doesn't hawk anything and offers no opinions other than to say "so there it is". He has several vids - do a serach for "speedtraphunter".

Lastly, as I investigate this I find a great deal of bias in the owners. Just think what your opinion of a car that claims to be as good as a vette … you get my point.

Do your homework. Get all the facts. And if you live in VA you have to get a true stealth RD. And VG2 is old tech. You need a RD immune to the SPECTRE IV and SPECTRE IV+. There's only a few out there, but more are coming.

It's your money.

FYI all the website above are in the pocket of Escort that is all they rave on is Escort. All the videos done buy people employed in some fashion by Escort, its no secret they are all in the pocket of Escort.

Talk about biased...Hmmmm videos dont lie my friend all of our opinions are based upon real world driving experiencies and nothing more. You can have all the group of guys you want that claim to be enthusiasts but the bottom line is that they are just giving the best review for the highest bidder.

in deed do your homework try to stay away from online websites that claim to be enthusiasts rank radars and then sell the very ones they rank the best. Also watch out for websites ran by people who oddly always turn up around Escort...... ( Employees Of )

All radars will give you enough time to slow down but if your going to spend the money, get a radar that offers to most protection, in my opinion K40 will always be that. they incorporate two radar receivers as opposed to one which you will get with every other radar on the market.

No longer the "best" in terms of extra features, but I've been using the Escort 8500 X50 for years and I love it. In terms of range and performance, it ranks up there with the very best of today's new models. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it works very well at what it's intended to do, and you can get one at a great price compared to the new models. GPS is great, but not worth huge jump in price to me. Plus I have a Pioneer double din head unit/nav screen that can be programmed to alert me of red light/speed cameras.

Default Ya missed the point ....

Desperate ...

Ya missed the point - or rather you confirmed it. I gave some links for people to do their own due diligence- as I have.

I am not in favor of ANY one system over the other. That said - I do have trouble with your glowing recommendation of a system I can find no positive reviews on save those on sites that sell the system.

I encourage people looking to shell out good money (in the case of a K40 - $2K+) to get smart on their own. I know what I am going to buy - you'll notice I haven't mentioned it.

I highly reccomend the radar forum at http://www.radardetector.net and the YouTube videos of "speedtraphunter" - look for yourself.

And by the way, no one recommends the K40 - but you. You sure you're not selling them?

I just say on the internet they caught BIGFOOT......... Does that mean it's true?

Those so called groups of people who provide these test get funded and sponsored by the radar MFG to write bias reviews on there product. They have links all over that will send you to a site that sell the very product they ranked as the best. I dont know where you have been hiding by that is how the internet became so popular, BIG MARKETING SCANDEL. This link below was off of your speed trap hunter website.

I agree 100%.

"Radar Roy" shills the stuff he sells. He does test it though.

And "SpeedTrapHunter" has a website? (news to me) - all I ever did, and all I ever recommended, was to watch his vids on YouTube. I found them educational.

I also subscribe to LEO boards to get their take on all hype and hyperbola. In the end - it's a personal decision, and my ONLY point is to become as informed as you think you need to be, from as many sources as you can, before shelling out $500 - $2100+ ... and if you want to go cheaper, you should just save your money and drive the limit.

I have to agree, I have two 8500x50's and they do a great job.

K40 is just about worthless, and I'm in no one's pocket. I've tested their laser jammers and you are better off with nothing than their jammers. At least with nothing you know you are not protected, with K40 you think you are but you're not.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQsa5HltHe0&NR=1

If their detectors are as good as their jammers I know who is in who's pocket in this thread.

I'll take my V1's, 9500ci, STi-R and Laser Interceptors and put them and my money up against any K40 product any day of the week.

All of the videos there, including mine, are by independent enthusiasts. I resent the fact you imply my videos and posts there are because i am paid or associated with Escort.

Some of their products are great, some suck. If you want to know the best detectors on the market, let me rank them for you

Bel STi-R Plus
Escort 9500ci
Escort Redline
Valentine 1

That's the order and that's the facts. I own them all (bought them not given any), have tested them all and own all the equipment needed to test them.

Check out my videos and tell me that I am paid by Escort. Just because the majority of the world does not buy your shilling of the K40 don't pass it off as others being on someones payroll.
