C6 audio system setup, need some advice
Originally I had planned to reuse some equipment I have leftover from an old car, but after digging it out from storage it's not in very good shape. It's looking like I'm going to need all new gear after all. My old Kappa Perfect 10DVQ sub might still be usable, but I think it might be too deep to fit a corner box in a C6 (plus it's tough to find a sub box for the car other than the JL Stealthbox)
It seems nearly everyone on here swears by Image Dynamics and Arc Audio gear. I know Rick recommends Arc amps. The thing is that I'm on a bit of a budget and I don't really want to spend a huge amount on the speakers and amps. I do, however, care about retaining as much of the trunk volume as possible, I also want my install to be difficult to see from outside the car as I've had stereo gear stolen in the past and really don't want to deal with that on the Vette.
So my current thought is to get a single Arc 4 channel mini amp, a JL Stealthbox, and a set of Image Dynamics CTX 65CS components. I want to mount the amp under the passenger footboard where the stock Bose amp normally is, run the front channels to the components and bridge the rear channel to the Stealthbox.
Does anyone know if the Arc amp will fit in that location? Anyone have any pictures of a previous install? Is there adequate cooling underneath the carpet for the amp? Will that long of speaker wire for the sub cause any problems? Is there anything wrong with the lower tier of Image Dynamics equipment?
I want to stress that I am really not very picky with stereos. My previous setups have used cheap stuff like rockford fosgate amps, sony xplod speakers, and JL W0 subs and I've been perfectly happy with them. Pretty much my only requirement is silk dome tweeters as I've found the metal ones to be overly harsh.
