Default Some DD help Please

Need advise on which DD to replace the stock nav that I have in my 06 C6. I have XM, on-star, HUD display. What do you guys think of the AVICZ130BT?

This is all kinda new for me so any help would be great. Would like the unit to also up grade the sound of my Boise radio.

Thanks
Rod

Thanks, what would you recommend? Which unit do you have in your vette? The time frame is not a problem just want to make sure that is is a improvement in both GPS and sound!

Thanks

dont expect the radio alone to re make ur sound system... a radio upgrade will improve sound some but dont expect miracles

What would I need to do to make a difference. Speakers or a whole lot more!

Quality component speakers and a good amp to power them. Good speakers require more power than even what an aftermarket HU can give them.

You could leave the stock HU. It actually has a pretty clean signal coming from it. Its weakness is the lack of wattage. There are many good component speakers and amps you could use and be very happy. Its all a matter of personal preference. Myself, I went with JL speakers and amps.
Do some reading here and go to a trusted audio place near you and listen to different brands and check out other setups in Vettes. The amp that supplies clean power w/o overheating is what you need. Many to choose from. Everyone will have a speaker that just sounds right to his music style and individual ear.

I have Pioneer right now for a few more weeks. I was always a Kenwood fan and switching back to Kenwood to the 9980 for this summer. I usually put as new one in every year

I disagree with leaving the factory head. Yes it's a flat signal but it's not a GOOD one. The factory NAV is VERY weak and it was absolutely night & day when I finally gave in and upgraded. I was quite surprised at how big the difference was in my 06 vert. And my god, the 6 CD changer in my 08Z has such background hiss that I can't stand it any more even though it's mostly a track car!

I'll second the Kenwood recommendation. Have an 8120 in my vert and picked up a used 6140 for my Z. Nice units for the money. I love Alpine but they nickel & dime you to death on the options to say the least and their interfaces are... less than ideal.

I yield to you.

OP, disregard what I said about the stock HU. Komoman is the man to listen to in all things audio.

Thanks guys, I know that it is a " process " to find the right balance between cost and quality. It's that every time I use the nav in the vette it disappoints me, and sound quality speaks for it's self.

Default My 2 Cents

I am putting in my recommendation for the Pioneer Z120 or the Z130 when it come's out. I have had mine in for two months and love it, the amp and speaker's go in this weekend I hope.
See Dennis he will set you up, can't go wrong with his price or suggestions.

Dennis, I'm curious what is causing you to go to a Kenwood. Are you unhappy with the Pioneer?

The Pioneer ipod features are awesome. I liked it with no issues.
The NAV is OK
its not a bad unit by any means

The Kenwood Garmin based NAV is so much better than Pioneer. The 9980 features will blow away the Z130 from Pioneer as well.

Kenwood cost more than the Pioneer but to me its an all around nicer unit.

What features does the 9980 have beyond the Z130?

My biggest reason for going with the Pioneer is the speed of the interface and ipod connectivity. The Kenwood 9960 seemed a bit sluggish to me. Is the interface on the 9980 different?

Kenwood worked on speeding up the unit for this year
ipod features are improved

built in hd radio is a plus verus a 100.00 option on pioneer
picture in picture on kenwood as well
can connect two ipods at once of which only one is used for video

Kenwood put the 9960 software into the 6980

I just like the Kenwood better myself.
The lane assist, junction view and 3d building maps are awesome
Pioneer is lacking on the NAV end
i was so used to the Kenwood Garmin so much better I decided to go back to Kenwood.

Sure do sell Kenwood
We are one of the few who are actually online authorized with Kenwood as well to honor all factory warranty with internet purchase.

I can supply everything but the XM
KEnwoog stopped making the XM interface over a year ago. You would need to find it on EBAY
kcaxm100v and cnp2000
these are bringing good money as well since they are hard to find

6980 and 9980 are the two units i recommend
the 6980 should be instock in a couple weeks
9980 will be end of March
