thinking about adding a sub and another amp...
as for the sub, im looking for something smallish in size and has a bit of kick. i dont want a loud boomy sub, but something thats tight and packs a punch, and adds to the music. i mainly listen to classic rock, hard rock, and metal.
let me start off with what i have currently..
1969 corvette convertible, i have very little space to work with here
kenwood kiv-700
xtant A4004
polk momo 4x6 in the kick panels
polk momo 6x9 behind the seats
i like what i currently have, but its just lacking bass.
now, heres where my real problem comes in. no matter what, im going to need a 2nd amp.
option 1. ill need a 3-4 channel amp, something that can do at least 50w x2 at 4ohm, and run the sub
option 2, and i dont know if this is even possible. run a DVC sub at 4Ohm off my current amp. bridge channels 1+2 (200wrms 4Ohm) to coil 1, and brdige channels 3-4 (200wrms 4Ohm) to coil 2. ill then need a 3-4 channel amp that can do 50wrms x2 4Ohm, and 100wrms x2 4Ohm.
option 3. get an svc sub thats 200w at 4ohm, and run it off my current amp, bridged, while running the 4x6s off the other channels. ill then need a 2 channel amp that can do 100w x2 at 4Ohm.
i was thinking about a polk mombile monitor 8" sub, but i dont know if an 8" will even do enough to even bother trying.
if you could manage a 10" you could get a slammin Boston Acoustic with a passive radiator and you would be set for life

matched up with this

this sub only requires 0.5 feet of cubic space in a sealed box
as far as the amp goes, maybe you could stack the amps to save space, there are some killer ideas on some car audio websites out there
good luck!
peace

new problem i just realized... i need to still have room for my convertible top. how short of box can a shallow mount sub fit into?
as for the second amp, ive got a location picked out, behind my drivers seat. i have my other one behind the passenger seat. in the little bit of time ive spent looking, i just havnt been able to find something that meets my requirments.
I currently have a 12" shallow sub that only requires 3.25" top-mount depth, so it can be in a box made from 3/4" MDF that's only a tad over 4" tall. A 10" shallow like this one requires even less and would go nice with that amp.

THEY ARE VERY LIGHT WEIGHT AND 80% FIBERGLASS. WE ALSO SPRAY TRUCK THE BOX IS FITS IN SUCH A MANNER THAT IT HOLDS ITS SELF IN PLACE. BED LINNER INSIDE TO GIVE IT MORE STRENGHT. WE SEND THEM TO PAINT SHOP FOR THE FINAL ROUND AND WILL PANIT THEM ANY COLOR CODE OR MAKE YOUR OWN UP. THEN WE PUT 3 LAYERS OF CLEARCOAT ON. THESE SOUND GREAT. I RUN 2 ALPINES WITH ONLY A 600 WATT ALPINE AMP THAT FITS INSIDE ONE OF THE REAR COMPARTMENTS AND 1 HAVE A APINE 4X100 FOR THE OTHER SPEAKERS. THIS WAY YOU CAN TURN YOUR SUB IN THE DOOR INTO A MID RANGE AND I ADDED 2 TWETERS INSIDE THE MIDDLE HEAT AND AIR VENTS. iT WILL SHAKE THE WINDOWS IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT. I RUN MY AMP ABOUT 3/4 POWER AND IT WILL ROCK YOU WITH THE SMALL CABIN OF THE VETT. wE CHARGE $995.00 PLUS SHIPING. WE PAY 250.00 TO GET THEM PAINTED AND WE HAVE ABOUT 30MAN HOURS NOT INCLUDING THE PAINT IN THEM PLUS ALL THE MATERIALS SO WE ARE NOT REALLY MAKING VERY MUCH ON THEM. WE ARE GOING TO GO TO ALOT OF THE CORVETTE SHOW AND WILL PROABALY CHARGE 1295.00 FOR THEM. THE DOUBLE 10 TAKES THE LONGEST TO MAKE BUT IT LOOKS GREAT. WE HAVE A FLAT BLACK ONE THAT A GUY ORDERD AND WILLL PICK IT UP FROM PAINT IN 2 DAYS IF YOU WANT TO SEE SOME PICS OF IT. MY PERSONAL EMAIL IS BURLESON71@HOTMAIL.COM AND MY CELL IS 615-319-9301. UOR WEBSITE IS ALMOST FINISHED. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT THEM. AND THEY ARE BUILT TO THE CUBIC FT SPECS ON YOUR SUBS THAT YOU WANT TO USE. BUT YOU CANT GO WROND WITH THE ALPINES TYPE R THAT CAN TAKE 1500 WATTS EACH. YOU CAN PICK THEM UP FOR AROUND 100.00 EACH NOW.THANKS,

I custom made the box to fill the back and still utilize the cubbyhole's but looks like you got that part covered pretty well already!
