So at first I thought the amp went bad, then the HU, but I'm not sure.
My driver side front speaker keeps coming and going.
It will play sound, but be really quiet, and then it plays normally.
I've noticed that if I have the iPod running (via USA Spec adapter) it tends to drop out. Then I'll switch to CD and it's still out but then I'll mess with the volume, turning it up and down, and it kicks back in. Then switching back to the iPod it works fine again.
Could it be some kind of signal sensing issue?
If so, what could have caused it? I've had this setup for a few years and haven't touched anything.
You can rule out the speaker itself by swapping them from left to right (or even better replace door twiddler with center channel speaker, then leave center unplugged).
It could also be a broken wire in the door harness, or just a loose plug (or pin in a plug) that's about to come loose.

i have the same thing, im replacing my speakers this weekend though
I did the output switch from the amp and it makes it happen on the passenger side. so i think that rules out the speaker. has to be some kind of connection.
but the thing that made me think of a level issue was because it seems when i mess with the volume from the cd player it kicks it back on like it should.
