Default Microphone in A pillar -- Help.

None of my voice commands work. I have never got a response other than "Please restate command". I tried the OnStar call button and it says "OnStar Ready". I say "Dial" and it repeats "OnStar Ready". I'm convinced my microphone is disconnected somewhere or just plain broken. I pulled it out of the A pillar and it is connected at the mic. I need to know where the other end of that mic wire goes. Back of HU? If I can find that out and see if it's connected I can check it and if it is connected I can replace it.

According to the schematics (look at schem 9/10) it plugs directly into the VCIM, which I believe is in the rear passenger tub (I don't have onstar, so not sure about that).

Thanks Mark. That really helps a lot. I think that rectangular box on the windshield near the rear view mirror is the VCIM though. It sure beats having to take the HU out. I'm going to dig into it and see what's up.

Strike that. Your right Mark. It is in the back. I just found it and all connectors are in place. I'm gonna see if there's a replacement mic assembly somewhere.

That box is the GPS and cell phone antenna for the OnStar system.

I got the mic today Steven. You won't believe this. I pulled the one I have out of the A pillar and it would only come out a half inch or so. I pulled the A pillar cover off at the top to release some tension and when I looked down in there the connector was broken and the mic was disconnected. I was able to plug it in and low and behold my voice command is now working. I never knew there was a connector at the end of the wire. I though the connector was right there on the mic and never bother to pull the A pillar cover off since I thought it was connected right there at the mic. I actually took it back out and put the one you sent me in there instead. It looks better and works fine. Thank you for the quick ship!
