Thinking about installing a back up camera. Any suggestions on mounting location and brand to use? Camera will be used with a Kenwood hu.
Does GM offer any type of camera for corvettes?
Tks
Mark, tks! I'm looking for a camera that will be hard to see and blends in with the back. Something that doesn't jump out as you walk by. I've been thinking about the long narrow style and mounting it where the push button for the trunk release is located if possible. What I really want to know is, where do you bring the wires from the camera into the car at the back end? Is there a location or hole that can be used without drilling a new hole? I'm not excited about drilling a hole in my z and might just say the hell with it and turn my head to see whats behind me.. Any suggestions?
My camera is the flat black version of the LP-1CA (vs chrome color). Most people don't even realize it's a camera.
I drilled a small hole in the rear vertical wall of the trunk to run the cables through, then covered it with duct tape to seal it back up.
If you absolutely don't want to drill, you could force the wires through an existing grommet, or run them over to the passenger side and try to fish them up to the cabin vent located directly behind the rear passenger speaker (pic).
cyberV Thanks for the link and images. I like the camera installed on the silver c5. The one that sits flat. I like the looks of your other camera but not fond of the 27mm hole. If the camera craps out, you have to replace it with the same type. Something like the one on the c5 but smaller if possible? There are a few models out there that are used on Honda's, Hummers, etc., that might work and fit in the same location on the vettes?
Mark Tks again.
Kust- checked out rostra and they have some interesting choices. tks!
