Ive upgraded my sound system to the alpine W505, and it fits beautifully.
Im using the original bose enclosures for all of the speakers, and the front tweeter is the original bose, a replacement 5 1/4 inch.
The rears have been replaced with some sort of Pioneer 6.5 inch speakers also into the original enclosures.
I have been reading the forums regarding the bose enclosures, and that the ports in them should be sealed.
Im just curious as to why that is?
Im having difficulty tuning the system, tried imprint but since I don't have a sub, it didn't work very well. There is a huge amount of resonance in the system and I've somewhat managed to enhance the sound by lowering the entire mid range EQ.
I think part of your problem might be not plugging the ports on the Bose enclosures. You basically put a speaker in a " tuned ported enclosure" that was not designed to be in that enclosure. Blocking off the ports is a step in the right direction. Even plugging the ports , still may not give optimal results . Most car audio speakers are designed to use the volume of air in the door ( for instance ) as the "enclosure" . Now you have your speakers in "small sealed enclosure" , which may create a peak in response somewhere else, but might be way easier to deal with in tuning the car. Hope this helps !
That makes sense. What were so special with the bose speakers?
The rear speakers in the car with the original enclosures sure can pack a real punch, but I would like to do it right.
Do you have any experience with the convertible C4's?
Thanks again
