Re: Will this CD Changer work in a 01 C5 (team5150)
Many GM changes will work in the C5, but you may have to splice into the stereo harness to wire them in if your cable does not have a "C5" plug on the end. The GM E&C data bus is common to all "GM" changers for about the last 10 years. A number of Japanese companies have made changers for GM. GM also resold changers to other stereo companies like Rockford Fosgate. These also work in GM cars, but you must splice them into your stereo harness. The main differences come down to the brackets and harness. Eckelers sells a non-C5 changer for use in the C5. They insert an "adapter" jumper into the line to make it work in a C5.
Only the 3 changes specified by GM to work in the C5 have a ready made wiring harness for the C5. You need to compare the part number of the changer you have with what the dealer says will work in the C5. I believe you can buy harnesses from Ken Fitchner.
