1991 coupe, Bose/cd/cassett/AM/FM. I am suddenly getting this screeching, clicking, drilling sound from my right rear speaker. It doeesn't matter if the engine is running or not, it happens with the cd/cassett and the radio. The sound is LOUD and not effected by the volume control. The only thing that stops it, is to turn off the radio. :confused:
This has to be the amp, no question. you can take it out yourself,,
unscrew the speaker cover with a phillips
then a 9/32 nut driver for the enclosure
need a small flat blade to work the clip on the connector, unplug it..
pull the wholething out (it WILL come out even thought the carpet seems in the way..
then unplug the to wires going to the speaker
use a phillips to unscrew the amp from the mounting
Send it to DR Don (elsewhere on this forum) he'll repair it for $65 + shipping and guarantee it
thanks bogey, i'll try to find dr.don for shipping info. should i have both rebuild ? someone stated they should be done in pairs. maybe dr.don will know. again thanks!!!
TOM;
Dr. Don is the right place to have repairs made. The only reason pair repair is recommended is that probably very soon the other side will go out also. I learned by doing, the hard way. I've had all our amps repaired and I keep a front and rear amp spare. Only takes a minute to change, save postage send both you won't regret it. Dr. Don only takes a couple of days and is great to deal with.
Good Luck with your Blose!
