pre amp RCA wiring?

pre amp RCA wiring?
I am going to attempt to install a sub amp to the HU rear channel pre-amp output as stated by 99HT. My ? is after cutting the RCA there are 2 wires for each RCA a covered wire and bare wire around it witch wire do I hook up to the BRN or DK BLU wire and the bare wire?
