I recently purchased a DNX6980 double din unit for my 2003 C5Z06. My brother graciously offered to install it while I was at work today. He called me several times to inform me that I owed him big time. There was a lot more modification required than I (in my ignorance) had led him to believe. While he was cutting part of some bracket, in order to have the new unit fit, he inadvertently cut through my antenna wire.
I need to know HOW to rectify this situation. Can this be repaired, or do I have to purchase a whole new........ whatever?
clearly I'm not very versed in these matters which is why I turn to you.
As always, any help is GREATLY appreciated (given that the ONLY station I can currently pick up is smooth jazz .... nothing against smooth jazz, I just like to have more options)
should be able to get a new antenna cable. not sure what end is on the antenna side in a z06. someone with a z06 needs to pull antenna wire at the antenna to see if its male or female standard size or mini gm. new cable can be had for cheap if u avoid the dealer
Nice! That's good to know. Now the next obvious question: how hard is it going to be to re-run that antenna wire?
Thanks again,
John
Depending on the type of wire, you might not need to rerun the wire if it can be crimped/reconnected. I did that with the white brake wire when I reverse engineered my Euro Tail Lights to LED Tail Lights.
Running the antenna cable shouldn't be a huge deal, particularly since the old one's in place, just follow it.
The better question: who still listens to regular radio? I would use it as an opportunity to ditch the antenna all together. With that head unit you could run Sirius, an iPod, etc. so what use do you have for fuzzy, low quality, commercial radio???...probably just me...

HAH! very true. My brother and I are going to install the ipod cable as soon as it arrives, and I'll see why he said he couldn't crimp the wire back together and heat-wrap it.
I've been playing with this thing on and off at work today. Got my phone synced, but couldn't get me phone book downloaded. Still trying to figure out how to operate Pandora. This thing is probably the most advanced piece of technology I've ever owned.
Thanks again for all the input guys. If the antenna cable isn't repairable, Dennis over at double D mods gave me a good place to check out for purchasing a new one.
