Re: Replaceing Stock Bose on my 99 Coupe (Buckmaster)
Went to Car Toys here in Houston today..They have a real nice Alpine unit, believe the unit model number is CDA-7895, new unit just out. Does MP3 and is XM capable. Spoke with an experiencec technician who just did a 2001 with this unit and was able to use the existing wiring harness w/o any issues. He said at the worst he would have to put some sort of converter in order to work with stock speakers. But in the case of the 2001, he didnt have to. So, for $450.00 installed I can go this route, yank out the cd changer since it would be of no use. Haveing a unit that is MP3 capable basically cancels out the changer.
Re: Replaceing Stock Bose on my 99 Coupe (LoneStarVette)
There are no "converters" needed to interface with the Bose Twiddlers. You will have trouble interfacing with the Bose Signal Processor, which feeds the Bose subwoofer system.
I would ask the "dealer" if he really understands the C5 system first, BEFORE I let him chop up my cars wiring. The majority of stereo installers have no clue of how the C5 system is wired.
