Default Quick and Easy Generic Wiring Question
For electronics that are powered by the cigarette lighter power source, such as radar detectors and GPS, is hardwiring them as easy as cutting the power cord and tapping it into an accessory power line (like the photo below) or is there more to it than that? I'm pretty sure this is a stupid question but I wanted to ask it before ruining a perfectly fine power cord. Thanks.

Yes, it is that easy. Just be sure to tap a line that switches on/off with the car, not something that's always on.
