head unit replacement
I wondering instead of adding a processor to the bose unit or just use the wiring harness maybe I sould change out the h/u. Without cutting is there a h/u aftermarket that will fit that doesn't have a removable face. I leave the top and windows down when Im in and out of stores, the removable faceplates could be stolen. Also how different in sound am I going to get out of
1. Bose with 19 dollar harness
2. Bose with 90 dollar sound processor
3. Head unit.
I really would like to keep the unit but the sound processor is more wireing and I heard people sometimes get alternator wine with it. Any help greatly appreciated

A good HU will have more DSP that any $90 processor, and sound better also.
For single dins I'm partial to the Kenwood Excelon line, most of those have detachable face plates, but there are plenty of other models out there.
