Anyone know how to get a good cost to susbscribe to sirius for the first time ? I know on the acura forum those guys get a great deal when they renew, but what if I want to get it for the first time ?? I have a Kenwood 9960 and have everything i need to get the sat. but never signed up and wondered if there is a trick to getting a good deal to try it out.
Any passwords or codes aval. ?
Call them up and ask for a 3 month trial subscription. Couldn't hurt , they are losing customers everyday, to people using Pandora, etc. Just a thought.
My brother let his car lapse after the free Sub ended and he ended up getting a year for about $140 and that included adding the portable device so he can listen to XM on his iphone too. I asked him about it yesterday because my Tahoe was about to end and it did today the included year is over. I need to call and see what they say.
I'd be interested in how to get a cheap subscription as well. I'm installing a Jensen unit with GPS and XM in my C5 and I'd like to get Sat. radio if cheap enough.

I just activated my new Pioneer XM module connected to the AVIC Z130. Told the fellow that I wanted to activate my new XM radio and that I wanted a deal. 77 dollars plus some other junk totaled 85 and change for a year. Not sure if the Sirius side of the house does the same thing. I never renewed the Sirius in my Ford Edge, so don't know--eddie
From what I've seen, XM is MUCH more willing to deal than Sirius. The $77/year for XM seems to be a "just ask for it" deal, while Sirius would rather let you cancel than come down on the price.
Actually I just came out of trial on two new vehicles, my vette and a Ford Edge. One is XM the other is Sirius.
The 2nd time I called I got the rep to subscribe both for the $77 + change. Had to do seperate bills on both but used the same rep.
Be sure to request paper invoice, don't give them a credit card as they will auto bill. I mail a check upon receiving the invoice. In one year when they both get rebilled on invoice I will contact and re-negotiate. They will try to bill for full subscription. Then I'll do the cancel routine again.
Be persistent. The first rep I got would not authorize even one discount much less both vehicles. Keep calling until you get what you want.
Buy a lifetime contract,it's what I did over 10yrs and 3 cars ago. It was cheaper and all I do is take the brain with me when I buy a new car. L8R ZFLASH
Just remember that "Lifetime" is the lifetime of that particular Radio ID.
I've had 2 different XM tuners die within 2 years in the last 8 years. Personally, I'll stick to the $77+taxes per year.
Bingo
If you have one of the portable units that you move between cars, then maybe it's worth a chance. I had an aftemarket Kenwood unit in the C5, then the Sirius conversion box for a while in my C6, now an AVIC with the Sirius box. I go thru too many mods to get the lifetime deal
Like I stated above, I've moved mine from three different cars and never, never had a problem. I haven't dealt with XM, mine is a sirius brain and still going strong for over 10yrs. If and when I ever get a second car I wouldn't hesitate to buy another lifetime contract. It's just so much more easier not worrying about another monthly payment. Just my 2 cents, L8R ZFLASH
Glad I caught this post. I've had Sirius forever and I looked at my bill and figured enough is enough. I can stream Pandora and I have my iPod, satellite at this price wasn't worth it.
I called this morning and told them I wanted to cancel the subscription, he then offered me a one year subscription for $77 plus $8.32 for taxes for a total of 85.32.
Not sure if I got lucky or what - but I just had a very positive experience with XM. Bought my car, and while cruising through BFE Iowa (with no CD's or anything) I found the info in the glove and the ID number. Called them while cruising down I-80 - they started with the Premier package for $180 and I said too much. Then he "found" a promotional deal for the Premier package for $110. I told him a friend of mine has the package for $50/a year (just pulled the # out of my ****) - he asked if I could hold for a minute. Less than thirty seconds later, he get's back on and says they have a one time promotion going for new accounts for 55.xx for the Premier package for the first year. I said sign me up, he asked what credit card - I said none, bill me. Less than 2 minutes later I had a gazillion channels of crystal clear options in the ride. Love it - and for 55 bucks - how can you go wrong?
