C6 Replacing everything but the HU, looking for feedback
Being that with the top off the car at any normal speed the stock NAV HU system really sounds terrible, I've decided to replace everything but the HU. I'm waiting on the HU a bit just because, I know I'm probably going to lose some potential sound quality here for awhile, but I think it will work for me for now.
I've searched and read the links in the FAQ, but would like any additional tips / gotcha's / ways to avoid having to redo things later. If you have experience here, I'd love to hear it.
This is what I've purchased/ordered so far:
JL HD900/5 Amp
JL C5-650 Components
JL C5-525x coaxials
JL 10w3v3 Sub
Boxology sub enclosure
Speaker adapter plates for doors
PAC ADD-GM24
4 Channel interconnect cable
Amp install kit
Speaker wire
GLI's (just in case)
Questions:
Am I missing anything here?
Should I really worry about buying sound dampening material for the doors? I never did it in my other car doors and it didn't seem to be an issue, but using it near the rear by the sub seemed to help.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have upgraded my amp and speakers and retained stock nav. You may need to ground the negative side of the rca's to the head unit if you get interference. Also, using an antenna isolator eliminated the remaining whine.
Definitely get sound dampener for the doors. Call Rick at RAAMaudio. He can sell you the dampener, some aluminum channels to further stiffen the doods, and an alumilight plate for the big hole in the door.
I did exactly what your planning and did not use sound dampening. I'm very happy with the sound. Maybe it could be better with sound dampening but compared to the Bose crap it's plenty good enough for me. I did have a lot of noise in the system and did have to use the GFI's at the amp end and it totally got rid of all noise.
BTW, make sure you disconnect the center channel while your at it.
talk to dennis at dbldmods he has some sweet new arc amps that are small and cost way less then jl
I already bought the JL. I looked into the Arc's but I wanted to stick with a brand I know and trust. Arc is only ~50 miles from me in Modesto, but I've got a good history with JL... Plus, everyone knows nothing good comes from Modesto. Just kidding..
