Default Battery Connection in a C5

Do I have to look for anything special for the connection of the power wire to the battery? Or does the common ring work for it? This is on a 2001. Going shopping this afternoon for wires/cables and want to make sure I get everything right on the first try.

Also are any of these Amp install kits any good? Streetwires makes them along with a couple of other manufaturers.

Thanks

DO NOT hook up the battery, hook to the post on the end of the fuse box.

many people bring it though a grommet in the firewall a wire from the outside fuse box.

IMHO It's not necessary, the fuse box in the passenger foot well has a direct to the battery connection and a post, you have to remove a 7mm screw and then push in a plastic clip for the whole thing to come out.

Or purchase a Optima Yellow top and use the "top" posts for your connection using a Rockford 2 gauge battery tap.

It looks like I am going to be answering a lot of my own questions with this amp/stealthbox install....

I bought one of the wiring kits. It was from BestBuy made by Rockford Fosgate. I chose the 4guage wire version. It was $60. It has just a ring to connect to the battery. It was a PITA to try and screw the factory positive connector with the ring attached. The trick was I needed to cut off some of the plastic on the facotry connector to get it back on. It also didn't help that I dropped the socket bit and it fell down under the battery. It is now on the floor behind the front wheel. I can hear it jump when I tap on the bottom of the car. Anyone know how I can get it out?

If you can see it, use a magnet on the end of a string or something long to retrieve it. Or remove the battery. :mad
