What is the best place to hook up the amp power wire to the positive battery terminal or the positive post on the side of the fuse relay box? 4 gauge cable, 98 coupe.
I went with directly to the positive terminal. I had to trim a bit of the red plastic on the factory harness to get it reconnected over the clip. I used 4 guage wire.
If it is OK to use the fuse box would probably be easier to get to.
Battery is always best from an avoiding noise standpoint. You can get a battery tap for about $10. It mounts to the + of the battery and allows the + wire for the car to be hooked up as well as provides a second post to hook up stuff to.
This sounds like the way to go to me. I spent wayyyy to long trying to get the positive harness reconnected with the power wire clip attached to it. Dunno why it took me so long just to trim the red plastic back a bit. Thanks for the advise 92TripleBlack.

If your battery has both top and side mounts I would suggest using the top mounts for your aftermarket stuff (i.e. stereo, alarm, upgraded electrical wiring). Then leave the side mounts for stock wiring. I have the Rockford Fosgate Platinum top positive post terminal for the top post on mine.
