AVIC D3: Bluetooth, Ipod hookup & Backup Camera
Hi guys, I have a question on my AVIC D3, this didnt come standard with bluetooth? How do I get this hooked up?
Also is there an option to flip the reverse camera display?
Lastly my ipod/iphone hookup cable seems to be intermittent, it plays and then after a few minutes it stops and I have to unplug and replug in again. Any ideas? It also wont charge my phone is there a cable I can get that will charge it?

Cant believe this headunit isnt bluetooth ready...
So this will go between my ipod hookup and ipod and allow charging?
Also is there a real ipod hookup cable that I can buy that will work for sure?

The Pioneer CD-i200 is the "official" cable that should be used for iPod. That's the one I used on mine and it worked just fine.
Older ipods could use 5v or 12vdc to charge them, newer ipod/iphone units (about 2 years) can only be charged with 5v. Older car radios only have 12v on the ipod cables (the D3 is about 5 years old). The charging adapter gizmo plugs in between the radio cord and ipod so it can convert the 12v to 5v, then move it over to the proper pin so your new ipod can be charged.

Mark thanks a lot. I took my reverse camera apart and flipped the guts, that problem is solved. Can you direct me how to get to the backup camera while I am driving. Can I see it then? Is there a way to take a picture while driving? I have done the mod where I can watch dvds while driving if that matters.
Also resetting my iphone 4 seemed to stop the intermittent issues with the ipod thanks again!

Do you have bluetooth on your car? Kind of sucks I have bluetooth in my other car and the vette is so modded up but doesnt have it. I dont think Id be able to hear anyone any way since my car is so loud? Wondering if I should get it because of the loudness I am not sure it would be effective and probably annoying to the person on the other end.

To view the camera while driving there should be an icon to select it after you hit the MAP button. FYI, for this to work the camera needs to be powered from switched power, not just the reverse lights.
I have BT, but I upgraded from my D3 to an x920 last year. Mic is in upper corner of A-pillar and I get no complaints.

Would this be AV2? I tried to select it and you are right it's not working, only in reverse.
What would be the easiest wire to access for switched power and do I leave the reverse power wire also connected?
Also is there a way to take a picture at all?

Look in the owners manual on pg. 35, if you push the map button there should be a choice for 'rear view' if you have the D3 set up properly.
If the D3 will switch to rear view, but the image is blank unless you're in reverse, then you need to re-wire the power to the camera so it's on whenever the radio is, not just when you're in reverse. You can tap into switched power behind the radio, but I'd use a relay to make sure you don't pull too much current on the trigger wire. Or find a fuse or wire in the footwell that's switched. The D3 harness needs to stay connected to the reverse wire.

It is a C5 and it works while I am driving! This means someone must have hooked it up correctly to work like this otherwise it wouldn't have??
