Default JL C3-650 Components / XD Amp installed

So I previous had a set of Focal components and a JL 300/4 amp in my car but the amp went bad and blew one of the fronts out. The coil got fried. Forget the technical reasons the amp went bad, but long/short of it was it got too hot and I need to ventilate the box (coffin) it's in.

Anyways, after considering a lot of options including Polk MM6501s I ended up going with some JL C3-650 components and a JL XD 400/4 amp.

WOW! At first I thought they were a little bright, but after a day of powering them and getting used to the sound, I have to say they are notably more clear and rich than the Focals I had before. I always loved the Focals and have had them in various cars, but these JL C3s seem to sound a good bit better to me.

The 400/4 amp is probably helping drive some more power, which has really helped eliminate any distortion at a loud volume. I can actually turn the volume of the factory HU up all the way, something I've never done before without it sounded like muddy crap. Now it sounds clear and full of sound without any distortion I can notice that would make me want to turn it down other than how loud it gets.

Really impressed with the JLs. Was a little leary of the installers recommendation wondering if they just wanted to sell me what they had in stock rather than what they'd have to order, but I listened to them and was sold. Never did get to hear the Polk's, but I was happy with the JLs in the store and they sound even better in the car.
