I'm about to change out my HU for a Pioneer unit and was wonder if it is possible to make is so that it won't go off when I have to restart my car. I have on occasion stalled my car and when I push the start button everything electric goes off. I really hate that, especially the headlights and stereo.
You could connect everything normally, then add a wire between B+ and radio trigger with a switch on it. If you stall the car flip the switch on before restarting, then turn it off once running

I'm going to sound like an azz but I'm serious.
If you stall your car often enough for the radio turning off to become a nuisance..... your problem isn't the radio. Take some time to figure out why you are stalling the car. Practice. Don't mod the radio with some kind of backwoods engineering.

I've stalled about 3 times. I should have used a different example. Another issue is when I'm listening to the radio while parked with engine off and need to start it up. It isn't a big issue but I was just wondering.

I'm very glad to hear the clarification. The thought of having an ongoing stalling issue was depressing.
The radio issue depends on the startup time I guess. In my GMC the factory radio restarts in the same circumstance but the radio portion comes on almost immediately. In my Vette with a 3 yr old Kenwood DD it takes about 30-45 seconds to get music back. I tried a newer model Kenwood DD and it is back in the box in the garage. That dang thing takes almost 2 minutes to start up!!! Nothing works until it is up, even the backup camera. Heck I'm 2-3 blocks down the road by then.
I read somewhere (I read too much I think) where someone had rigged some kind of capacitor or some such that did this. He said it was disconcerting to the GM service tech who was working on his car when he opened the door and the radio didn't immediately go off. I'm paraphrasing but that got me thinking about it. I just don't know where I read it.
