I'm in the market for a radar detector but I need 1 very important feature. When I turn the car on and the detector powers up I need it to be silent or nearly silent without affecting the normal settings. Do any detectors have this feature?
Also, there is a product out called iRadar. It is an app that goes onto your iphone and gives information to the ipod screen. Well my ipod is hard wired into my Kenwood indash unit and currently anything that's on my ipod screen is transferred to my in dash unit. Does that mean I can have my radar detector signals come up on my in dash screen? That would be cool.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have my Valentine One hardwired to the rearview mirror and if the volume is down on the V1 (usually the case in my car) then it makes no noise. When I am on the highway I adjust the volume know to be able to hear the warnings. The detector is mounted with a metal bracket to the driver's side sun visor retainer. I am not sure if this meets your requirements.

Also, there is a forum vendor that has an interface for the V1 that will display the radar warnings on the HUD. Personally, I think the red lights within my field of vision serve as a better warning. I think this would hold true with displaying the warnings on the nav screen.

I radar only works with Cobra detectors I believe. I would save my money for a traffic lawyer before i spent money on a Cobra.

Radar Active is an iphone app for interfacing with the V1, a much better way to go. There is also a forum vendor (Dashtronix) that has a product that puts the V1 display info into the C6's HUD. You can then turn down the volume as the display from the detector is now in the HUD.

There is a vendor who sells a unit that displays the output from both the Escort 9500 and V1 onto your HUD as well.
