Ive got a '88 Corvette. Car has a new Kenwood KDC-BT948HD headunit, alpine door speakers and 2 old alpine amps.
Im looking to replace the amps and also get a new subwoofer. It had old 10' Kicker. Music will be rap and rock. Any suggestions as to amps and subs?
How old are the amps? There really haven't been huge advancements in the majority of amps over the recent years - some of the older amps (especially some of the better ones) will sound at least 90% as good as the majority of the amps today. If the Alpines are in good condition, you might want to consider putting the bulk of your budget (assuming you have a limit) on getting great speakers (sub and front doors), and then over time upgrade the amps if necessary. Just my $0.02
They were in the car when I got it(Ive had the car for 5 yrs now btw) so Im not sure but when I had the headunit installed the guy said I should get more powerful amps though I bet he was just hoping for commission. For a C4 Im assuming one 10 inch sub is all I need?

It sounds like you will have the older series- probably a "V12" series amp, or possibly an older 35xx amp. The current series of PDX amps came out in 2005 or so.
The V12 and 35xx amps were pretty good amps. Clean, with decent power. Really dependable amps too. Depending on which subwoofer you go with, 100-200w should be sufficient power. Once you figure out which amps you have, that will probably determine the next step.
