Default replacement door speakers

I have a 2010 Corvette coupe. Looking to replace the factory Bose 10 inch door subs. Looking to replace them with the JL Audio ZR800 mid range 8 inch driver. Has anyone done this or know if ti is possible?

Looks pretty good, not sure about the mounting depth. Listed at 3.38". Not sure what the clearance is in the doors.
Its also listed as a 'mid bass' driver and a mid range driver and tweeter should be installed along with a dedicated woofer with the zr800 to fill out the sound. Seems like without a mid range and proper tweeter set up, the sound will be lacking.

I think that BassMechanic has 8" woofers and 3.5" speakers in his doors. You will need a shallow woofer.

I have replaced the factory front and rear speakers. The fronts are Hertz 3.5 speakers and the rears are Hertz 5 1/2 coaxials. Will use the ZR800 as my mid range if they fit instead a 6.5 inch coaxial in the doors and use a dedicated subwoofer in the rear. Looking at the JL TW5 13 inch subwoofer or the new Diamond Audio 10 inch shallow subwoofer.

It should be a pretty close fit. The depth is the about the same as the QM200's I'm using in mine. You'll need to build up the door - about a 1/2" - 3/4" spacer, and it should just clear. Wish I had exact measurements for the driver I have - I believe it's 3.5", but I didn't measure it before I put it in.

Some good equipment there but the ZR800 is mid bass speaker not a mid range speaker. Saying you will use them as mid ranges doesnt make it so. By definition a mid range covers freqs between(300-5000 HZ) the JL mid bass speakers(50-500HZ). They dont have the middle range range and the system will be lacking if you're only going to use the mid range from the 5.25's out back. Thats just my opinion of course.

That's correct, but probably just a terminology issue. The hertz 3.5" speaker that he has up front is rated down to 120hz I believe. Using that, in conjunction with the ZR800 should work well, with a crossover point around 150 - 180 or so.
