Which part do I actually need? GMOS-04
I have a 2005 C6 with Onstar and originally the Bose 6-disc changer. I purchased the GMOS-04 interface adapter, but now I have lost all of the DIC, traction, memory, etc. button chimes. I was able to find one thread on here mentioning that, but it is somewhat dated. Naturally, I didn't read this post until after the fact. The only thing being installed was a Pioneer head unit.
Is there anything I can have modified wire wise to pick up these chimes? I'm a bit electronic-illiterate, but I have someone who can do this for me.
If I simply cannot get these chimes with the GMOS-04, which PAC interface adapter would I need? Will the OS-2C-BOSE provide me with all factory chimes/warnings/etc?
Think there's any chance I can send the GMOS-04 back to an Amazon vendor?

The GMOS is supposed to produce the chimes. You may just have the chime volume turned down too low to hear them, check out page 6 of these instructions
If you switch to an OS2C, you also have to buy a CM1 module to have chimes (OS2C doesn't have them built in).

Great, I will check this out tomorrow. I hope that is the issue. Thank you for the quick reply.

The guy who actually put the unit in for me just sent me the following:
"I just got off the phone with Metra, that's who makes the GMOS-O4. They told me that you lose those chimes!
There are a couple other manufactures that make the interfaces... Scosche and Pac but I don't know if they are the same way."
Any advice?

Can anyone confirm for me on a 2005 with Onstar and Bose that they have retained all of the chimes?
Just to specify, the chime for having the door open with the car still in accessory mode still works, however, hitting the button on the dash that switches between tire pressure and oil temp on the driver display makes zero noise. Likewise, the driver memory seat and traction control buttons emit no noise. I won’t be able to try the volume control (as mentioned above) until tomorrow after work.
I just talked to the installer again and he said he called Metra a second time to try and get someone else on the phone and once again they emphasized that my particular model will not retain those chimes.
I’m not trying to second guess anyone; I just REALLY don’t want to spend any more money.
Are there any wiring tricks outside of the general instructions that you guys have utilized? http://www.metraonline.com/files/pro...NSTGMOS-04.pdf

The OS2C and OS2CBOSE
both have chime module built in
He is better of with the OS2CBOSE

Unfortunately, a few days after install, I'm now having problems with this unit. My symptoms are as follows:
1. No warnings chimes, or sporadically working chimes
2. Radio will not play sound through speakers until 1-2 minutes in (seems to work fine after a couple of minutes)
3. No additional chimes on button push - if I push 3-4 buttons, about 30 seconds to 1 minute later I will hear a single chime
Everything worked 100% fine Thursday night after install. Is this what the technical bulletin corrects?

Thanks in advance!

Guys, thanks for the help. We installed this issue and it seemed to cure all problems the GMOS had.

Burning Brakes
Hi,
I know this is an old thread but I'm in the same situation as the guy who started the thread. I have a GMOS-04. I haven't installed it yet. Two different modules were mentioned. Should I get a OS2CBOSE or an GMOS-100. I'm installing a dnx890hd hu with Alpine amps and new speakers. Thanks

I've had my Kenwood for a month and no time to install it.
I now have the time this weekend and reviewed my order and find that I was sent the GMOS-04.
I too, want to retain OnStar and Bose and the chimes. All the chimes.
I think I should have had the OS2CBOSE.
Well, I guess I'll be calling Double D in the morning to clarify this.

all depends on year of car, sw controls ect to what we suggest
The GMOS04 will work fine on all 05-13
the OS2CBOSE will only work on 05-2010
