Recently replaced the factory head unit w an aftermarket head unit and using the PAC-ROEM to still maintain factory bose amps and speakers
A code popped up, code 80 - Radio COMM, no radio found is the description. Tried resetting in manual diagnostic mode and also tried disconnecting the battery and PAC unit but code still on the dash
anyone else get a radio code error after removing the stock HU?
How did you clear the code/fix the issue?
The radio isn't there, the car knows it, so you get the code. If you want the code to go away you'll need to install an oem radio in C5 (in C6 the interface adapter fools the computer into thinking there's a GM radio installed, but not in C5 AFAIK).
thanks....I got a code on the dash, a yellow light that looks like a transmission symbol, not sure if this is related to that, but thats the only current code 80 - RADIO COMM thats displayed.
Just wanted to see if I should get that yellow symbol or if thats unrelated to the radio
prob the silly CAGS defeat I installed previously. I did tighten the gas cap thinking that might be it off the bat. Another wknd project along w new speaker install at some point

The purpose of the $20 cags gizmo is to fool the computer and prevent the light from coming on. Just unplugging the wires will defeat cags, but you'll get the light.
