Default Possiable new package: stealth install C5

Dennis (c5bearsfan) aka doubledmods and myself have been talking about building some stealth budget friendly packages for both c5 and c6s.

With the release of the new rockford fosgate mini amps I decided it was time to get started. We decided to try the kicker 6.5" subs paired with there 3.5" coaxials with a bit of sound deadner and this mine 75x4 rms amp all off a stock headunit and keeping a stock look in the C5. After finding someone local to me, Cory (cvaught) the fun began.

Below follow some pictures and my review, Cory should chime in shortly with his review of the system. Doing another one of the same setup next weekend for another forum memeber and we may be setting this up as a package here soon. We are also looking into how much more work it would be to do an 8" instead of the 6.5, and possiably a 10" for the C6.

First a picture of Cory's modded 99 FRC

Here is the oem excuse for speakers

a little sound deadner in the doors

Here is the 6.5" subwoofer, and 3.5" coaxial mounted in the door

Fused feed coming off of the battery for the amp

Here is the amp on the ground behind the passenger seat, it is so small you could install in a number of places but this is easy and makes it easy to adjust if need be, the seat slides right over it no issues.

All powered off the stock headunit.

My short review: Cory gained alot of clarity and deff some volume. As he would say "it sounds 100 times better then stock". We did gain a little bit of bass, although if I could find a way to massage 8s in without too much work I think we could get even more. Car can go back to 100% stock without anyone ever knowing a stereo was in it, no permanent modifications done at all.

Let me know your thoughts, questions, etc, and hopefully a review from the owner to follow shortly.

-Greg

That looks awesome , would you be able to add any subs to get more bass? and what about pricing for everything? I have been looking for something better in my car but dont have alot of $$$ to spend , I was actually looking in a pawn shop today and noticed that subwoofer cabinets were fairly inexpensive and they had speakers in them. let me know more please I am really intrested. Thanx Mike

Interesting. I am not a fan of subs in the doors, I like them behind me in sub enclosures and then woofers/mids/tweeters up front. But, for a budget system, couldn't hurt! Anything is an improvement over stock.

I haven't had too much listening time with this setup yet, but I can say that the clarity is a huge improvement. It also added a much crisper and clean sound. It is a step up from the stock system that was in there. As for the bass, I didn't notice much of a difference except that it is a little punchier and I have to keep the bass a little lower to avoid distortion. Overall, this is a great option to improve overall sound quality and you can't beat it for the price. As said above, this setup will provide a much cleaner/crisper sound over your stock system and I'm happy with the new setup. If they can figure out a way to get a little more bass out of it without distortion, it will be a great setup. thanks again
