Default Help With Kenwood DNX 6980 Head Unit

This DD NAV unit was just installed and I cannot figure out how to load an image for the background.

I have the image I want to add loaded both on my IPOD and on a Micro SD card and I can't figure out how to get the image loaded. I have the directions, read them, re-read them, however the image does not appear on screen.

Can someone familiar with this unit provide some tips? The manual is sort of cryptic with visuals that don't really match, etc.

Thanks!

The only opening I have is for a small Micro SD card that according to the manual is used for map updates only. I also have my IPOD wired in through the glove box. That's it.

The instructions tell me to connect the USB device with the loaded picture. Then (1) touch the background in the display menue screen, (2) Touch Standby, (3) Touch Memory of User Background, (4) Select the image to load and (5) touch enter.

These instuctions don't work based on the IPOD connection. When I think USB, I think of a memory stick, etc. so I'm not sure if the IPOD is considered a USB connection.

Edit - I think I moved forward in figuring this out. I see that the USB cable was connected through the glove box and that the IPOD adapter plugs into the USB port. I thought it was one cable. I will try this again with my memory stick tomorrow...

OK, I was able to plug into the USB port and change the background, however I am still having difficulty in changing the startup screen image. I tried the instructions in the link above and it did not work.

Hoping someone who has installed this unit can chime in! Thanks!
