Default Gain **** for amp?

The Arc Audio XDi 805 includes a long telephone cord and a ****. I think it's supposed to be mounted near the driver for convenient access. How often do you guys see this being used? I can always go back to the hatch and adjust anything I need to. I've never had a car with an aftermarket audio system like the one I'm installing, so no idea if I'll use it much. Thanks,

I had one once, rarely used it. Now I don't have one, and don't miss it. However, my HU has sub specific volume and bass boost controls, so I don't really need it.

Do the original install without it. If you decide to try it, just run the cable on top of everything and set the **** under your seat as a temporary trial. If you like having the ****, mount it somewhere.

I just got the XDi805 and XDi804 as well (we are geniuses, you and I), and plan to use the remote on both amps. The one I had before in my '04 coupe was very handy, as these will be. Will use the '805 one to level the sub, and the i804 one to level the pillar tweets. Planing to mount them just under the front of the seat, or maybe in the ashtray ...

I absolutely love the one for my T1000.1. I use it with every song.
Would never get another amp of that power without one.

My 5120 does not have a sub out control. I used the "****" a lot less with my
Alpine. It did have a separate sub control.

You should at least run it under your seat to try it.
Then as some else said mount it if you like it.

I use mine all the time. Different CDs are mastered differently, and they react with the stereo system differently. I prefer more impact from drums in most rock recordings, but when The Black Eyed Peas come on, I really have to turn the bass down.

I've always used the bass **** for the amps in my cars, so my controller is mounted right in the middle of my tombstone. It's right at my fingertips when I want to make adjustments!

I agree. They are very useful for various types of music. My eleven year old daughter likes the level cranked up on the Black Eyed Peas when she is in the back seat of my F250. She likes to get her back massaged. (Big older Zed Audio Amp and good 10' subs)

I plan on mounting one in the ashtray of my vert when I do my install.

I have a *** mounted on the console for adjusting volume on my sub. Since I play a variety of music genres, I use it all the time. Can't imagine not having one.

I have the same Arc Audio XDi 805 that you have.

I have the Sub Gain set where it is just about right for most songs playing at normal levels while driving.

However, if I crank up the volume much louder than normal (or when the song "Cotton Eye Joe") is playing, there is really just too much bass ... So, I think I will try and attach that long wire and the control **** and see how it works.

If it works well, I guess I will look for a permanent place to mount the ****.

Ron,

Thanks,
All the little adjusters for the sub channel are pretty much in the middle position, except for the "phase" ... it's turned further (about 3/4 the way to the right) .. pretty close to the 180 degree position.

I have a precision power amp but bass ***** are pretty much the same on all amps. I custom fit it into the ash tray. Very clean, easy access, that stealth look. Pm if you need pics.
