Is my stereo shop lying??????
I decided to take the plunge with stereo upgrade.
I am sure I want a sub for the rear and I would like to keep the head unit. I also would like to upgrade the existing speakers with infinity speakers with swivel tweeters.
The guys at the shop I use (that have installed all of my other cars) said that to upgrade the speakers I had to do the head unit also because of some type of individual amp in the bose speaker themselves.
It seems that you guys upgrade your speakers at will. What gives??

The adapters are made for C4 bose and not C5. The guy obviously doesn't know your particular car. Walk away to someone who does.

what kind of head unit do you have? will there be enough power in the bose head unit to drive your new speakers? i'm only wondering because each bose speaker has it's own amp circuit built into them, good luck :D

correct for a C4 but incorrect for a C5!
there are no power amps built into the speakers of the C5. except for the subwoofers in the doors, THEY have power amps. :cheers:

yeah, for now I want to stay with the stock HU.
Obviously have to add an amp for my intended sub, so i dont mind if I have to add more power for new speakers.
What i am hearing though is that the amp goes just to the sub and the HU should handle new replacement speakers.

Infinitys are good. If you get a chance, I'd compare them to Boston Acoustics Pro, MB Quart QM or QSD, A/D/S 3 series, Image Dynamics, or Focal Utopias.

My next trip will be to the stereo shop ( a different one) and listen to the difference between boston acoustics and infinity speakers. Thanks again guys.

Some guy on EBAY is always selling them "Buy NOW $79." That's the best price I've found. I plan on instaling them also. The door speakers are Amped -however, on my Maxima I changed the speakers mounted in the amp frame and all is well. Its the Amp that has the 2 ohm inpedence the speaker is a standard 4 ohm. Check it out!!!
