Default ?????????? What the heck is this ??????????

Happy New Year everybody

I'm in the middle of a major-mod thing and when I took out the driver's knee bolster, there was this little vent thing (F&B photos atchd). Nothing was attached to it, nor anything dangling behind it and I looked all over. This is on the very far right of the bolster and about 1/2" wide or so. Any ideas or is something missing, that goes here? There are definitely 2 screw-mount holes there on the back, maybe it was a 3LT+ upgrade thingee?

Thanks and looking forward to lots of answers in 2012, hope it's a great year for all of us ...

In some radio options a microphone is located there that measures the ambient sound level and is used to make adjustments to the volume of your audio. It's there on my 11 Bose system so perhaps yours is not the Bose option? It is a different mic than the pillar mounted OnStar one

It is the spot where the auto climate sensor in early model vets went

the HVAC sensor is next to the start button

I have taken apart close to 100 C6 interiors now.......from 2005 to 2012, ALL have been 1/2LT's and one 3LT in California

I do NOT have the answer, but 'speculate' it's for the NAV voice commands???

Again, 'speculate'

Velox is correct. Page 8-75 of the service manual says. "Radio Volume compensator interior noise microphone".
